Mykhailo Yatsyuk – Director of the Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher
In 1995, he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, majoring in land hydrology, with a qualification as a hydrologist-hydrochemist. He completed his postgraduate studies at the same university and in 2001 received a degree in geography. From 1997 to 2014, he held various positions at the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine. He is a civil servant of the II rank. For his significant personal contribution to the development of land reclamation and water management, many years of conscientious work, and high professionalism, he was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2006) and the Certificate of Honor of the Supreme Council of Ukraine (2023). During 2015-2016, he worked at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
From 2016 to 2021, he was Deputy Director for Scientific Work at the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. Since February 1, 2022, he has held the position of Director of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the NAAS. In 2024, he defended his doctoral dissertation in the specialty 21.06.01 – environmental safety.
His main area of activity is the development of legislative and regulatory acts in the field of water management, problems arising in connection with the destruction of the of the Kakhovka Reservoir dam, improving integrated water resources management based on the basin principle, monitoring water quality, scientific justification of measures to protect against the harmful effects of water, and developing legislative and regulatory acts in the field of water management development.
Chairman of GWP-Ukraine (Global Water Partnership-Ukraine), Member of the Regional Council of GWP Central and Eastern Europe. One of the initiators of the creation of the Global Water Initiative of Ukraine. Implementer of a number of international scientific projects on the implementation of integrated water resources management in Ukraine. Author and co-author of over 100 scientific works.

Andrii Shatkovskiy – Doctor of Agriculture Sciences, Deputy Director for Science, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine
Researcher in the field of agricultural reclamation. Doctor of Science in Agriculture (2016), professor (2021), corresponding member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (2020). Awarded the Boris Paton National Award of Ukraine (2024), the President of Ukraine Award for Young Scientists (2018), and is the Honored Donor of Ukraine (2022).
Graduated with honors from Kherson State Agrarian University with a degree in hydraulic engineering (2002). In 2002-2003, he was employed at the Institute of Southern Vegetable and Melon Growing of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences (Gola Prystan, Skadovsk District, Kherson Region); since 2003, he has been working at the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv): 2004-2006 – postgraduate student; 2006 – a research associate; 2007-2011 – head of the micro-irrigation laboratory, since 2011 – Deputy Director for Science.
As a scientist, he has developed and scientifically substantiated technologies for drip irrigation of crops, which ensure optimal plant productivity while maintaining the ecological stability of agricultural landscapes.
Chairman of the Technical Committee for Standardization 145 “Land Reclamation and Water Management” (2015-2025), chairman of the specialized academic council for the defense of doctoral (candidate) theses D 26.362.01 (2022-2025), Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal “Land Reclamation and Water Management,” FAO (UN) Technical Expert on Water Management and Irrigation, member of the Working Group on Irrigation and Drainage in countries of Socio-Economic Transformation (WG-IDSST) of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), guarantor of the educational and scientific program H1 Agronomy.
Andrii Shatkovskyi has supervised and graduated 6 Ph.Ds. and 1 Doctor of Science in Agronomy, and is also the author and co-author of over 400 scientific publications.

Iryna Bidnyna – Scientific Secretary, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Research Fellow
Graduated from Kherson State Agrarian University (2005). Professional agronomist. In 2005-2008, she was a full-time postgraduate student at the Institute of Agriculture of the Southern Region of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences. From September 2008 to September 2013, she worked as a junior, research, and senior research fellow, first at the Laboratory of Agrochemistry and Meliorative Soil Science of the Institute of Agriculture of the Southern Region of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, then as a senior research fellow in the Department of Irrigated Agriculture at the Institute of Irrigated Agriculture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. From October 2013 to January 2022, she held the position of scientific secretary and concurrently head of the postgraduate and doctoral department at the Institute of Irrigated Agriculture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences (Kherson). In January 2022, she was transferred to the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, where she worked as head of the consolidated planning department of the Scientific and Organizational Management of the Presidium (Kyiv) until November 2024.
In November 2024, she was appointed scientific secretary of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences. Her main area of activity is research and scientific justification of the use of various fertilization systems, soil cultivation, and moisture conditions for growing major agricultural crops, determining the characteristics of soil processes under various reclamation conditions, and developing comprehensive measures to improve soil fertility indicators.
Author and co-author of over 260 scientific publications.
