Mykhailo Yatsyuk
Director of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of NAAS

In 1995, he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, specialty – Land Hydrology, qualification – Hydrologist-Hydrochemist. He completed his postgraduate studies at the same university and in 2001 received his PhD in Geography. In 1997-2014, he held various positions at the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine. He is a civil servant of the II rank. He was awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine (2006) and the Certificate of Honor of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (2023) for his significant personal contribution to the development of land reclamation and water management, many years of conscientious work and high professionalism. In 2015-2016, he worked at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Institute of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
From 2016 to 2021, he was Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. Since February 1, 2022, he has been the Director of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine.
The main area of activity is the development of legislative and regulatory acts in the field of water development, problems arising from the destruction of the Kakhovka Reservoir dam in 2023, improvement of integrated water resources management based on the basin principle, water quality monitoring, scientific substantiation of measures to protect against the harmful effects of water, development of legislative and regulatory acts in the field of water development.
Chairman of GWP-Ukraine (Global Water Partnership-Ukraine), Member of the GWP Regional Council for Central and Eastern Europe. One of the initiators of the Global Water Initiative of Ukraine. He has implemented a number of international research projects on the implementation of integrated water resources management in Ukraine. Author and co-author of 95 scientific papers.

Doctor of Agriculture Sciences, Deputy Director for Science, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine
Graduated from Kherson State Agrarian University (2002). He is a hydraulic engineer by profession. In the period from 2002 to 2003 he worked as a researcher at the Department of Irrigated Agriculture of the Institute of Southern Vegetable and Melon Growing of the UAAS (Hola Prystan, Kherson region).
In 2004-2006, he was a postgraduate student of the Institute of Southern Vegetable and Melon Production. From January 2007 to June 2011 he headed the micro-irrigation laboratory. Since July 2011, he has been working as the Deputy Director of the Institute for Research. The main area of activity is research and scientific substantiation of drip irrigation parameters for row crops in field crop rotation, in particular, studying the water-nutrient regime of the soil, studying the patterns of water consumption and the formation of moisture zones.

Iryna Bidnyna
Scientific Secretary, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Senior Researcher
Graduated from Kherson State Agrarian University (2005). She is an agronomist by profession. In 2005-2008 she was a full-time postgraduate student at the Institute of Agriculture of the Southern Region of the UAAS. From September 2008 to September 2013, she worked as a junior, research and senior researcher at the Laboratory of Agrochemistry and Land Reclamation Soil Science of the Institute of Agriculture of the Southern Region of the UAAS, then as a senior researcher at the Department of Irrigated Agriculture of the Institute of Irrigated Agriculture of the NAAS. From October 2013 to January 2022, she held the position of scientific secretary and part-time head of the postgraduate and doctoral studies department of the Institute of Irrigated Agriculture of NAAS (Kherson). In January 2022, she was transferred to the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, where she worked as Head of the Consolidated Planning Department of the Scientific and Organizational Department of the Presidium Office (Kyiv) until November 2024.
Since November 2024, she has been employed as an academic secretary of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine. The main area of activity is research and scientific substantiation of the use of various fertilization systems, tillage and moisture conditions for growing major crops, determination of the characteristics of soil processes under different reclamation conditions and development of comprehensive measures to improve soil fertility.
